Rome Opera Theater

One of the privileges that guests of Hotel Villa delle Rose can enjoy is that of being only ten minutes walking distance from Rome Opera Theater. Very few 3-star hotels in Rome can boast of being so close to one of the temples of Italy and the world for Opera and Ballet. Originally called Teatro Costanzi, it is known as "il Costanzi" still to this day. The theater was inaugurated in 1880 and was restored twice -in 1926 and in 1959- by architect Marcello Piacentini who was responsible for the modern shapes we can admire today.
Rome Opera Theater is known the world-over for the perfect acoustics, for the world premieres of operas such as Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni (17 May 1890) and Tosca by Giacomo Puccini (14 January 1900), also for famous productions such as the one of 1965 of Don Carlo by Verdi, directed by Carlo Maria Giulini and produced by Luchino Visconti. Also known for the huge Murano glass chandelier, considered the biggest in the world with its 6-meter diameter
Some of the very famous voices that have graced the Opera Theater are: Caruso, Gigli, Callas and Tebaldi, Caballè, Kabaivanska; Del Monaco, Raimondi, Carreras, Domingo and Pavarotti.
If you stay at Hotel Villa delle Rose you will be able to take advantage of a unique occasion to enjoy the melodramatic and operatic tradition staged in the marvelous setting of the Rome Opera Theater.
